Steiner’s clear transparent strip curtains are widely used at dock doors to reduce heat loss or cooled air through doorways, protect workers, and reduce noise. Vinyl strips allow natural light in dark areas and ease of access. Heavy duty PVC strips have excellent optical clarity.

HOW TO ORDER

Steiner recommends different thickness, width and height of strips for various applications.

OVERLAP/WIDTH GENERAL GUIDELINES

  • Partial Overlap – for light to medium personnel traffic 8" wide strips with 1/2 overlap recommended. For medium/heavy personnel traffic a 12” wide strip with 2/3 overlap is recommended.
  • Full Overlap- For vehicle or heavy personnel traffic full overlap is recommended.

 HEIGHT

Not recommended to use 8” wide strips for height over 8’

 OPENING SIZE TO LOAD HEIGHT RATIO

If the opening is small in relation to the size of the load being moved, consider smaller width strips with less overlap because the strips are more prone to dragging over the load.

 OTHER CONSIDERATIONS

Always consider using wider strips and/or more overlap for large openings or openings with heavy welding operations or drafty conditions.

 HOW TO ORDER STRIP CURTAINS:

  1. Determine width of the strips and overlap 
  2. Determine the mounting method, then select Mounting Hardware.
  3. Measure height and width of your door, opening, or area to enclose.
  4. Select the color desired.
  5. Select the Part Number from the table.
  6. Order hardware separately.

MOUNTING HARDWARE & INSTALLATION

Steiner’s technical team can help you to determine all the necessary hardware you will need based on your installation mounting method and your configuration.

UNIVERSAL MOUNT

Steiner's Universal Mount is made of 16-gauge galvanized steel. Permanent 1/4" threaded studs on 2" centers allow the pre-punched strips to be mounted to horizontal or vertical surfaces easily and quickly. Standard available lengths: 3', 4', 5' ,6' and 8'.

Attaches to the lintel of inside doorway. Order strips 1-1/2" shorter to accommodate hardware.

Attaches to wall surface immediately over doorway (above door jamb).

Steiner’s Pipe Mounting system allows easy mounting of strip curtains anywhere that you can run an overhead pipe

  • Pipe Mount system fits up to 2" diameter pipe 
  • Requires 3 clamps per linear foot
  • Each pipe clamp is 4” wide and holds 2 strips (overlapped)

ADJUST-A-WALL™ STRIP TROLLEY MOUNT

Adjust-A-Wall™ Trolleys allow vinyl strip curtains to be installed on Track and Roller Systems to allow the strip curtains to slide out of the way and then back. Straight trolleys are available in 18", 24" and 36" and hinged trolleys come in three 4" segments and all can be combined.

Straight Rolling Trolley – Nylon wheels roll along straight track. Consecutive trolleys can be linked together.
